SMRPodcast #215: When Lightning Strikes

SMRpodcast episode #215 has been recorded, is online, and ready for download.  This week it's just a two-man show Robb and Rod as Chris Ashley is sitting on a beach somewhere in North Carolina.

We start this weeks show off a a recap of Google's annual developer conference, Google I/O, which took place last week.  At nearly 3 hours long, the first day keynote had quite a few announcements.  The big ones being the announcement of Android L, the next generation of the Android operating system, Google Fit, Android's new health and fitness tracking service, and a showcasing of smartwatches.

We also talked about Google TV, which neither Rod or Robb thinks will do better than Google TV unless someone comes out with a set top box or HDMI dongle that can plug into existing televisions.
There were a couple of tech related Supreme Court rulings over the last week.  The first was Aereo losing and being told that its business model of providing consumers free, over-the-air, broadcasts via a physical antenna which consumers rent from Aereo violates the copyrights of the broadcast networks.  The second was that police do need a warrant to go through a suspects cell phone.
Google buys Beats rival Songza, Google Apps are now directly compatible with MS Office apps, and Microsoft adds Perfect Forward Secrecy for Outlook.com and OneDrive.  We've got all this, our picks, and more in episode #215 of the SMRpodcast.

Rod's Pick Vivino – Wine recognition and discovery App for Windows Phone
Robb's Pick:  BeyondPod Evo Beta —  Podcast Catching App for Android
