SMRpodcast #247: Thirty Showers

thirty-showers

SMRpodcast episode #247 has been recorded, posted online, and is ready for download.  Rod is out this week, but, Chris and Robb are joined by regular guest host Terrance Gaines, a.k.a., Brothatech.

We start the show of with news out Cupertino as Brothatech gives us the low down on Apple's new Macbook which is the thinner and lighter than even the Macbook Air.  Beyond the Retina display and zero moving parts (note even a fan), Apple has decide to remote all ports from this design less a 3.5mm headphone jack and one USB-C port which is used for Power.

Apple also gave use details on the Apple Watch which starts at $349 on the sport model and goes up through $17,000 on the Apple Watch Edition.  Terrance is definitely getting one, but, admits that this will probably feel like a ‘one dot oh' device.

Apple also announced that it is donating more than $40 million to Historically Black Colleges and University via the Thurgood Marshall fund.  Robb breaks down the details a bit and the the entire crew applauds Apple for the work it is doing.

In other news, Google released a new Chromebook Pixel, Sony is launching a streaming media service, and, we ponder why GigaOm suddenly closed down.  We've got all this, our picks, and more in episode #247 of the SMRpocast.
